In this series, Port City Daily will look at some of the different things you might want to know, but that you can't seem to find a simple answer to online. The first in our series will look at how to get your North Carolina driver's license. They will need to obtain a state driver's license within 60 days of moving to the state and North Carolina now offers REAL IDs.
These are forms of identification accepted by the federal government for travel and other activities, but a little more paperwork is required to obtain them. It's worth noting that if you have a valid REAL ID from another state, you can use it as proof of identity when requesting your N, C. As proof of your Social Security number, it's also acceptable to bring a payroll record (think of the payment receipt) with your full name and social security number. Once you arrive at the DMV, you'll have to wait; however, going to the DMV during off-hours significantly reduces wait time.
